Basic 2D Land Seismic Data Processing Training Course for Junior Geophysicists Level

Course Target:
The course is aimed at Data Processing geophysicists with a basic knowledge of seismic data acquisition and seismic data processing and providing the necessary knowledge to enable them to produce a high quality data processing.

Course summary:
The seismic data processing is an indispensable phase of the seismic reflection method, and no geologically meaningful interpretation can be carried out without processing of acquired seismic data.

Therefore, it is essential that the seismic data be processed correctly using appropriate modules prior to interpretation. A numerous modules related to seismic data processing aiming to increase the S/N ratio. The Pre-processing requires the least number of modules to be used, but many advanced processing modules can be applied to seismic data depending on the complexity of the related area.

The course scheduled for 5 days of regular lectures and conduct workshops, to perform the processing procedures and promote the quality management of the processing geophysicists.

Day 1
• Topic 1: Land Seismic acquisition and Seismic sources
• Topic 2: Acquisition Quality Control (QC)
• Topic 2: Demultiplexing of recorded data
• Topic 3: Standard SEG-D tape format
• Topic 5: Reformat, QC log file, raw data Qc

Day 2
• Topic 1: Vibroseis processing: (Optional based on the source type a Vibroseis)
a- Examining sweep parameters
b- Obtaining correlated sweep records
c- Displaying vibroseis records
• Topic 2: 2D Geometry
• Topic 3: Statics correction

Day 3
• Topic 1: Bad shot and Trace edit.
• Topic 2: Gain recovery
• Topic 3: De-noise
• Topic 4: Deconvolutin of vibroseis, dynamite and air-gun data
• Topic 5: Filtering

Day 4
• Topic 1: CDP Sort
• Topic 2: Velocity analysis o Topic 4 Residual statics
• Topic 3: NMO, Muting and Stacking
• Topic 4: Post stack processing
a- Post stack De-noise
b- Deconvolution after stack (DAS)
c- Time variant filter
d- Post stack scaling

Day 5
• Topic 1: Migration theory
• Topic 2: Post-stack time migration
• Topic 3: Post stack processing
a- Post stack De-noise
b- Deconvolution after stack (DAS)
c- Time variant filter
d- Post stack scaling
• Topic 4: SEG-Y data format
